Arrow BOXING 2008 - Taylor vs Pavlik II - 02/16/2008

Saturday, February 16 at 9PM ET/6PM PT on HBO PPV - MGM Grand, Las Vegas

12 round 166 pound MIDDLEWEIGHT fight.
  • Kelly Pavlik (32-0, 29 KOs) -175
  • Jermain Taylor (27-1-1, 17 KOs) +155

We all know what happen in the first fight. Taylor had Pavlik hurt in the 2nd round and couldn't finish him off. Then it was Pavlik's fight from the 3rd on to the knockout of Taylor in the 7th.

We seen that Taylor could hurt Pavlik, with that being said, is Taylor have value now that he is a underdog?

can't see how this fight will be any different than the first one. Pavlik is just a brutal middleweight. The 166 catch weight was a ridiculous thing for Taylor to put in the contract. Something tells me Taylor is not the smartest boxer walking inside the ring. Just doesn't look like he listens in the corner. Poor Emanuel Steward could never connect thru Taylors thick head. Mentally he reminds me of Zab Judah. Terrific skills but mental meltdowns. Pavlik now has big time fight experience and can only get better after that first fight.

Can Taylor possibly alter his mechanics so that he can maintain a full guard for the entire fight? My guess is that you’ll see Taylor come out with his hands up, but gradually the poor mechanics that were instilled in him from years ago will show up forcing him to drop that lower left hand again. Taylor is essentially tailor-made for a puncher who relies on a powerful right hand to do damage. Thus, I’m picking Pavlik by stoppage.

Judges had it more in favor of Pavlik then I thought, but Taylor did seem to run out of gas in the later rounds. Taylor's flash is gone, and that is what won him fights that he shouldn't of won.
