Pretty average card, Franklin gets the rematch in his hometown, but I think he loses again to Silva.

Im going with Silva. Rich got raped in that last fight (lol). I think Silva is just too much for him. I think Rich will have a chance if he can get it on the ground, but even then Silva has good submissions and long ass legs to tie you up with. Should be alot better then the first fight though.
Im on the fence with Syliva vs Vera. About a year ago I would probably have easily picked Vera, but Vera has not fought in a year so he is probably rusty. That fight could go either way as both fighters could knock the other one out in 1 single punch. I say if Sylvia uses his jab and kicks to keep Vera at a distance and takes smart shots he will win a boring fight. |

Silvia did have back surgery recently.. and big guys like him tend not to recover so well from that. That being said I'm all over Silvia as an underdog. I expected the line to be even.
Okami is a solid bet IMO. Okami is probably better in all areas than MacDonald. The only threat MacDonald poses is the possibility subbing Okami. But I think Okami's too strong to get bullied into a sub and too experienced to get caught in a sub. I'll be staying away from Franklin/Silva... I don't think Franklin's been doing what he needs to do training wise to overcome a great MT/BJJ fighter like Silva. (His camp seems to be a bunch of brawlers/wrestlers... like himself). Anyway mainly pumped for Vera/Sylvia... I have no idea how that's gonig to go. Last edited by barkus; 10-19-2007 at 12:10 AM.. |

i have kalib starnes over alan belcher..
kalib is a beast on the ground > than belcher imo. kalib is also training with ATT and we are bound to see vast improvements in his already decent stand up. i have also heard that belcher may have sustained a minor leg injury during training. it will not affect his ability to fight, but may have stunted his training camp a little. in interviews ive seen, belcher doesn't seem too focused on his opp.. he's young and may be underestimating kalib. at around -120, i think he's a solid fav with good value. okami over MacD.. but at -200 plus, he may be a bit steep.. i also got sylvia at +171.. still amazed by the hype surrounding vera.. its going to be hilarious when he's chin checked by a beltless and hungery maine-iac. good luck! |

I don't understand the Tim Sylvia picks. He is big... ok huge, but I just don't see any skill/talent beyond his physical size.
If Vera isn't rusty, I see him running circles around the guy and winning an easy decision. What am I missing or not seeing in Sylvia? |

As much as I want to lay the big wood with Sylvia in this fight, I just can't lay -220.

vera is probably a little better on the ground but Tim is decent there for a big guy i think the line is the way it is because Tim can end it at any time with one big right hand plus he has a lot of experience and can go the distance if need be i like vera but the line is very understandable imo |

Sylvia will knock Vera out or they will just dance in circles until Sylvia wins a decision.

franklin got destroyed again
can't say i'm surprised...you could see the doubt creep back into his eyes the first time anderson went for the clinch....even though franklin got out of it that 1st time, the doubt was clearly evident on his face rich's looping punches and weak clinch is just tailored made for anderson |

Franklin doesn't look like the same fighter he was 2 years ago. Maybe Silva just arranged that for him.
