i dont know what fight the judges were watching... torres clearly won the first and third round. It would be shameful if they gave guillard the third round because of a few punches he threw at the end, as a result of getting takedown, again.

I had it 29-28 Torres as well, but hey... gotta finish. Props to Melvin for grinding it out.

I bet that flurry at the end of round 3 swayed the flipping UFC judges

I saw Torrys definitely win the first. Guillard won the second. And, in my opinion, Guillard won that third round. That last takedown attempt by torrys ended up getting point for guillard b/c he reversed it and mounted almost immediately. I thought guillard landed better shots, some good punches and a knee here and there. Torrys would get takedowns, and then just lay there until Guillard maneuvered his way back to his feet. He went for like 1 kimura i think during the fight. If it was wrestling Torrys would have won on points.

All that being said, the 3rd round was close. I can understand how you saw it the way you did, but i saw it for Guillard.

I agree with that exactly, and that is what wins round in the ufc. He controlled the majority of that fight, especially the third round.

judges must be going for striking tonight, apparently another questionable call on tuch in the prelims.

The scoring criteria are 1- striking, 2 grappling 3-aggression and 4- octagon control. Guillard clearly won striking and aggression. Torrys could have won aggression because he went for takedowns, but he ruined that by "laying there". grappling was even in my opinion, guillard got up every time he was taken down. Octagon control i guess went to Torrys.

Unfortunately, that has won fights in the past. That isn't how it's supposed to be though, at least i hope not.

ya i wish it wasnt that way but it is, usually. Japan has the best judging, guillard would have unquestionably won if the fight were judged overseas.

I look forward to seeing fightmetrics tho, i didnt think guillard landed that many shots.

Classy move by Maia. He didn't pull a frank trigg and keep going after him after the groin shot. He could have finished the fight, the ref wasn't going to stop it. I just gained a lot of respect for Maia.
