wow...gray maynard
its must be a horrible feeling knowing that all the power and so called punching power he has...did nothing vs nate diaz. i really hope the ufc does not give him a shot...nate diaz face is fine, while his is a big fat mess.
i understand the 29-28 for diaz...second and third round could have easily gone to him. but maynard stole the third. i didn't understand rogans comments in the second round...im almost sure diaz landed more shots opn maynard...anyone else agree?
either way i avoided betting on ufc fight night 20. hopefully a good night to those who did.

I thought Diaz was going to win the decision, but it was a close fight. Not surprised much with Maynard getting a split though.

The 1 judge scored it 30-27 Maynard thats carzy, He won the 1st Diaz won the 3rd just as convincingly and the 2nd was a toss up I could see going either way.
Very impressed with Evan Dunham, in the fight just prior to the main event I thought he was going down in the 1st, but kept his composure and almost ripped Efrains arm off (good thing he finally tapped)
Although the fight could have gone either way Aaron Simpson is a Beast, he got destroyed in the 1st rocked several times and I mean ROCKED... and much like Duhnam kept to his feet regained his composure in my opinion barely won the 2nd and then won the 3rd, but was definatly a 30-27 Lawler 1st round

evan dunham...wow. that man was impressive. was their something wrong with efrains knee or leg? the way he stood and moved was so stiff. im a efrain fan..so he should've tapped way earlier. there was no way he was getting out of that submission.
aaron simpson should've went out in the first round lol. just getting rocked with punches and still standing.

Crazy how Simpson kept his composure, he was hurt real bad. Legs looked like Jell-O. I feel like a fight like this really highlights the scoring issues. All of the judges clearly only gave 10-9 rounds. That means the second round, a close round that I thought Simpson edged, was given the same weight as the domination of the 1st.
I scored it 10-8 Lawlor, 10-9 Simpson, 10-9 Simpson for a draw. But could see if you were allowed to use .5's. 8-10, 9.5-10, 8.5-10. Same outcome. I think the 10 point must showed be used more liberally.

it's the UFC, what do u expect...2 cans who can't finish each other.
The Ultimate Eek out a decision championships, brought to you by TUF wrestlers.
Maynard, Rashad, GSP Bader, Joe Daddy, Tyson Griffin, typical UFC lay n prayers

You complain about how bad the UFC sucks in every post yet you seem to never miss a UFC event, even the fight nights with "cans who can't finish each other"

The funny thing is he fought Diaz the only way he could to win... and that was questionable at best.
If he EVER gets a shot i'm pounding the hell out of the other side.

I thought Gray was going to lose the decision as well. I gave him the second round because he landed the bigger cleaner shots (the one or two he actually landed). The first round was close but work rate alone made me give it to Diaz. Third round Nate just ****ed him up. And I had money on Gray too haha so I lucked out.

I got him at -140 by decision so it wasn't too bad. I figured he'd just pull a Joe Daddy and ride out a decision. Knew there was no way that he could finish Diaz. I think it's next to impossible to finish either Diaz unless the ref or doctor steps in. They're too dumb and have too much heart to ever tap and they don't ever get rocked, they just get pissed haha.

I always love and laugh when Rogan and Goldberg talk about great wrestlers (Maynard and Koscheck in particular) who have been really focusing on their boxing and are now great (or even proficient strikers). What the **** are they watching? Yeah, they hit hard but anyone can hit hard if they're taking a full backswing and then throwing everything they have in one punch. They need to realize that both Kos and Gray still suck at boxing. Whomever their boxing coaches are are even worse for teaching them to fight like this. It's atrocious.

Gray and Kos are definitely no Floyd Mayweather but I consider Kos a pretty decent striker for MMA. MMA Boxing is so different than real Boxing that it's sort of hard to compare the two. A true boxer's stance won't work in MMA unless getting kicked in the leg(or taken down) a thousand times doesn't bother you. That being said, who do you consider a good Boxer in MMA?

I agree that a true boxing stance wouldn't work but you can be a solid boxer in MMA without winging punches and hoping for the home run. I didn't mean to come off saying they were terrible boxers, rather there's still a lot that can be improved. Gray I thought had great foot movement, he just punched terribly and reminds me of how Kos throws. If it's effective striking for them than they should run with it but IMO it's just not good boxing.
Just want to throw this in there as well, I think there's a difference in boxing and striking in MMA. Amir Saddolah is a pretty good example of this. Very good striker, awful boxer. But that's because Muay Thai isn't about hands and he is a Muay Thai striker.
Off the top of my head, BJ Penn, Ross Pearson, and Lil Nog. If I'm not mistaken, Spencer Fisher and Sam Stout had very good boxing as well but I'd have to watch their fights again to confirm this.

diaz knocked down maynard in the first round... even though maynard got right back up.. how was that round not a 9-9 round if you think Maynard won the rest of it???
either way neither fighter did alot to show they wanted to win... especially Maynard who was fighting for a possible title shot.

Agreed, Edgar has really developed some nice Boxing over his last few fights. He's gotta be one of the most underrated fighters out there. Speaking of underrated and Boxing... I really like Nick Diaz. I sort of wish the UFC would resign him but I doubt they ever will.

Nick Diaz is another good one. I love his style as it works perfectly for his body type. I wouldn't be surprised to see Nick Diaz back in the UFC. He's not one of those guys that are on the UFC's blacklist as they freely mention his name during telecasts. I think the issue is just money and that Strikeforce was willing to give him a huge signing bonus (my theory) and that they would front load his contract. As long as the money's equal, he'll stay with Strikeforce and be one of their main attractions as oppose to just being a top fighter in the UFC.

Diaz is probably building his stock and his bankroll up at strikeforce. When/if he returns to the UFC the ball would be in his court.

^^Yeah I always agree watching both Diaz's fight and I still have never really seen either of them get "beat" or hurt I should say. Maybe when Nick Diaz fought KJ Noons but I still thought he was doing well in that fight. Can't wait for his next fight in strikeforce.

I almost want Nick to lose his title fight against the Whitemare just so he can get back to the UFC. If he wins there's no way he's leaving Strikeforce for at least another 2 years.

I almost never ever say this about an MMA fighter...
frankly when the term "boring" is used to describe a fighter it usually reflects the lack of knowledge the fan using this term has regarding the sport.
But Gray Maynard is fu*king boring...and he is far from a bully.
