Arrow Boxing - Ronald "Winky" Wright vs Jermain Taylor - 06/17/2006

I have been becoming a Winky Wright fan over his last few fights. This should be a good fight with Jermain Taylor coming off two fights against Hopkins. Im looking for Winky to out box Jermain in this one and get the win. I dont think Winky can knock him out, but can win a decision.

Has anyone made any wagers on this fight as of yet? Its about a hour or so away from starting.

They are showing the Hopkins/Tarver fight right now. So if you havent seen that fight, I recommend you turn it to HBO and watch Hopkins beat up Tarver.

What a joke. I knew Taylor would get rewarded for his aggressive punching, even though a lot were not landing, except on Wink's gloves. I must say JT was terribly more impressive tonight than in his fights against Hopkins, which should show you guys just how much of a legend EX is.

I had it 7-4-1 for Winky (116-113) with JT winning rounds 4, 6, 7, and 10 with the 12th even.

I agree, most of those flashy punches were landed on Winkys gloves. But those type of punches catch the judges eyes I guess. Winky won the first half of the 12th, and Taylor got the second half of it. So it shouldnt of went to Taylor.

Read the thread over at Max., a lot of good points brought up, the main one being: What exactly did Taylor do tonight? Just like his fight with Hopkins, he was down and out after the 12th, walking to his corner like a boxer who just lost, then gets rewarded for being HBO's golden goose.

I couldn't believe this fight ended in a draw. I thought for sure winky was going to win this fight.

i'll say this though. it sure sets up a big payday for both fighters.

I dont blame Winky if he dont do a rematch. Why fight Taylor again to get the same result, or maybe even a loss?

Taylor didnt do anything impressive in this fight, just like the Hopkins fights. He did a lot of power shots, but they were going off Winky's gloves and arms more often then not.

When Winky got Taylor on the ropes, he was landing everything just about. Very clean shots, and not many misses.

did you hear on the pre-fight new. that line moved big time over the past two weeks, when winky said this is one fight he will not be betting on himself to win.

what makes those comments so interesting, is the fact the big line move.

The big line movement was from Hopkins picking Tarver apart IMHO.
Everyone jumped on the fighter that beat Hopkins, twice even.

Like I read somewhere else, it's pointless to fight Taylor. He can just shadowbox in his corner for the whole match and somehow the judges will save him. Winky was bruised from his gloves blocking JT's shots and hitting his face, those are NOT scoring punches, not to mention the 4 clash of heads in the fight. I hope DiBella keeps Taylor fighting scrubs his whole career, because in every fight that he's stepped up against legit competition, he's finished the 12th round totally exhausted and beaten.
