Default De La Hoya-Mayweather

I'm getting really psyched for this. What are your thoughts? Mkt is like 63-64% for Mayweather. Admittedly, I don't know that much about boxing, but it seems like De La Hoya is pretty old and his last fight against Mayorga was a joke. A total mismatch to hype his upcoming fight against Mayweather. I’m inclined to take the odds and go with Mayweather. I may re-up somewhere just to have something on the fight.

Any of you boxing veterans have any opinions you’d like to share?

I happen to know a thing or two about boxing.

Mayweather is coming up to 154 after fighting at 147. De La Hoya is very comfortable fighting at 154. Oscar is 4 yrs older, to the month. Both were born in February, 4 yrs apart.

DLH has never fought a guy of Mayweather's ability, but DLH has fought some pretty good fighter's. Other than Hopkins, nobody has taken it to DLH. He gave the fight to Trinidad by running the last 4 rounds after thoroughly beating Tito the first 8 rounds.

Vs Shane Mosley, many observers he felt one, if not both fights.
They were very, very close.

DLH has taken all comers, and knocked most of them out.

Mayweather has never seen power like he will see against DLH.

Yeah fellas, let's talk some boxing.

I can't wait for this fight, and I think Mayweather as only a 2-1 fav. is a bargain. Check out this thread that was posted yesterday for discussions on the fight:

I'll be purchasing this fight on Ppv for sure.

I think Mayweather wins this fight by TKO

Yeah lets talk some boxing!

Man i love watching and caping this sport and have won my last 7 events. Boxing has gone downhill and wish someday it will step up.

Pretty Boy is lb for lb the best boxer in the world and after spending several hours gathering data about this fight the only thing I found that De La Hoya has going for him is that the fight is on cinco de mayo.

O/T a bit. I saw the Mayweather fight vs Baldomir in November in LV and on the undercard there was a fighter by the name Paul Williams (i think!) tall lenghty black guy with a very very long reach, anyone else know of this guy and know how he is doing? he was quite impressive although he was fighting a guy not even in his class.

If you follow and like this freakish Paul Williams fella, you are in for a treat when he takes on tough ass Mexican title holder, Antonio Margarito in early to mid July. The fight can be nothing but nonstop punching action as long as it lasts.... Both have excellent chins and are volume punchers with questionable defense...it's a war of attrition with someone finally falling or more likely the corner stopping the fight in the 10th.

I think the value lays with Oscar at +170. Its just hard to bet against PBF. So I'm passing and just hoping to see a good fight.

Punchmaster.

How long has Paul Williams been around fighting? Where is that fight going to be at in July?

I know its a old topic but DLH has fought better opponents then mayweather, one is Julio Cesar Chavez, and the fight DLH v. Mayweather was borring. They also messed up the calculations on who hit the most and how many punches were thrown. Fight was probably rigged.
