    Default is mma fixed

is mma fixed? This sport is heavly marketed like wwe wrestling. i hardley see any knock outs. Also there is way to much grapling each other in this sport. Its like watching 2 guys dry hump each other not a pretty site. I hate it when they do this. Also how do they know when a nuff is a nuff when there is still time on the clock even if the other guy does not give up? when this sport started i believe it was real when owner changed i think it really went south.

I don't think it's fixed for the most part, grappling is a major part of the sport but the head honchos understand that you have to be exciting attract the casual fan. Most guys that can't strike well enough or don't improve get their walking papers.

    Only in Japan.

Oh and if they were gunna fix fights why would they make pol "hump" each other as u say? Wouldn't there be more "exciting" finishes?

You have no clue what you are talking about, sure its possible as in anything that involves money that it is fixed, but the "dry humping" you speak of is part of the sport.

Which bet did you lose to come to this conclusion?

Yeah it's fixed...watch Hammill vs Bisping or Shogun vs machida...the "whiter" or more marketable guy always wins

I think some of the bonus payments UFC makes create an incentive for fighters to "work" a match. The fighters on the bottom of the undercard make nearly nothing, but they can get a large bonus for the evening's "best" submission or KO. It makes financial sense for the fighters to get together before the match and agree to have one of them lose in spectacular fashion, then split the bonus.

If somebody hasn't taken advantage of this already, somebody else will take advantage of it soon.

Oh Pride > UFC , i see your still a tool. Who is whiter between Hamil and Bisping ??? Just wondering ....

Any sport can be fixed. I dont think guys throw fights in the UFC. It takes so much hard work and effort to get to that level, why would you throw it away to make a quick buck ? At the risk of shaming your gym, your trainers ... al the guys you work with ... no way.

As for the "dry humping". Thats what real fighting is , real fighting goes to the ground. If your brain cant comprehend the flow of grappling, then by all means, go watch boxing. Im not knocking boxing, im just saying, i hate when people say MMA needs to be boxing. Thats all

How little is "nearly nothing"? How large is the "large bonus"?

And finally, don't you think someone would notice if they fought a "scripted" match?

this isnt very rational considering the percentage of a fighters income that comes form sponsorships. why hurt your career progression and risk being cut by the ufc to POSSIBLY get a bonus. Chances are a fighter on the main card has a ko or submission and your ploy get one up'd.

As for this whole thread, TS must be f'n around seeing what kind of rise he can get. This can't be serious.

new comer in the ufc with no major league experience will make 5k - 10k to show with a matching win bonus. KON, SOF and FON bonuses range from 40K to 100K depending how big the PPV is with both ends being the extreme.

No, and they wouldn't have to script the whole match anyway. For a KO all they have to do is connect, but "pull" a punch or kick and have the other guy immediately drop. For a submission, just wrestle around a bit and then work a triangle choke. It wouldn't be difficult at all.

Guys at the low end aren't making much at all from sponsorships, and not everybody on the bottom of the ladder has a bright future in front of them. Look at the guys who just got cut. Any big surprises there? If a guy knows he's either on the way out or doesn't have many fights left in him it's highly irrational from a purely financial POV not to grab as much $ as possible.

I'm not accusing any of these guys of working a finish, but it's highly naive to dismiss it out of hand. They all have the ability, and the incentive to go for an extra $25K-$50K is very strong for some of them.
