Big Nog fan. I think he is better than Roy at this point still. But I don't care for the way they match up at all.

Big Nog is over the hill, and Roy (fat boy) Nelson is a slob.. Makes for a good fight considering that.... Anyways - I like Roy Nelson by KO as he can handle himself on the ground with Big Nog and can bang with him standing. Comes down to chin strength after all that and I think Roy Nelson has Nog in that category by leaps and bounds!!! Big Nog goes to sleep in this one unless he gets on his horse and makes this a points match to a decision.. Not in Nog's DNA to run so I think he gets KO'd...

Good match up for Roy and a bad one for Big Nog.. If the fight last both will be breathing hard so I see no cardio advantage going in...

Why? All Roys got is the overhand. Big nog is likely faster, much better boxing and stronger as well, better cardio. Roy is a heavybag after round one. Nog could get clipped sure, but so can anyone fighting Nelson. Nog can wall and stall him like Mir, and probably box with him a while, Nelsons standup is painfully predictable. Also Noggie didnt look bad against Werdum, partly executing the dirty boxing against the cage strategy until he got cute on the ground.

Nog will get clipped count on it, he has been hittable his entire career even in his prime.

I recall a number of fighters having cardio issues last time in Abu Dhabi...perhaps it was just normal poor cardio fighters tho.

The long travel and climate change will favor those with better cardio. Nelson will be gasping after round 1.

The more I think about it perhaps Big Nog will hold a slight Cardio advantage over Roy.. Like Latariumilton said, I think Nog gets clipped early on so maybe the cardio concerns won't even play a factor.. This fight may not get out of the first round... Roy probably lands the haymaker punch from left field.....

Roy Nelson is good for a round and Big Nog is old and is not gonna run and get on his horse either... These guys are gonna be banging from the start and this is not gonna become a cardio match trust me.. Roy probably connects early on and Nog goes to sleep, possibly retires him after this fight as well.....

Roy will have enough gas to probably last 1 1/2 rounds depending on if they go to ground and really gas out early on. Nog isn't no marathon fighter himself.. He's old and gonna gas in a hurry as well.. If this fight lasts 3 rounds I would be shocked and they will be hugging, breathing hard and holding on..

like jibby said nog is not gonna use lateral movement and angles like cormier or miocic did. he's never done that in his career, he only has two speeds forward and then down
he's gonna be up in nelson face trying to and possibly beating him up, keeping his hands up and probably using head movement ( can he even move his neck anymore?). But can he do that and not get koed when nelson retaliates with his own shots? i can see a younger nog doing it but not zombie nog.

When cro cop fought nelson, i felt like mirko still was smart enough to circle and wait for nelson to gas, a prime mirko would have absolutely dismantled nelson. Im not gonna overrate old pride fighters anymore, while prime nog boxing would make nelson look bad he is just too damn old now

Yep I just think Nog doesn't have the punching power to knock out Roy Nelson either.. When Nog realizes this he will press harder and then get caught and dropped.. Nog's chin is very suspect these days.. He gets rocked in almost every fight these days....

An undisclosed injury has forced Alptekin Ozkilic to pull out of his UFC Fight Night 39 bout against Dustin Ortiz and the UFC will move Ortiz to a different fight card.

The change was announced by the UFC on early Thursday afternoon.

Perhaps your right.. Big Nog should have a slight cardio but I do think Big Nog doesn't have a great gas tank himself anymore.. I've seen him get tired fast in recent fights.. Big Nog is by no means a cardio machine..

Roy will gas though for sure if the fight gets past the 1st round.. He will then go into survival mode and pace himself to a decision. I don't think this fight gets out of the 1st round though..

Big Nog has a ton of miles on that body and he looks very slow these days. neither guy has great TD's and I see this 1 standing the entire fight. Remember this is a 5 rounder. I see Roy winning. I love this line!

i can't get excited for anything on this card. I have had my fill of Roy Nelson. Nog could do well here but i guess he like other slow fighters will get caught with that looping slow overhand right Nelson throws that the 999thranked boxer in the world would still dodge.

Nog will outthink nelson and work him by decision or sub IMO....too easy for a vet to gameplan for him

Roy Nelson Chin rating a solid 10.... Maybe the best in the business....

Big Nog chin rating maybe a 3.... Declining fast with age....

Nog is too slow these days to run and box, so any thinking game plan just isn't gonna work against Roy.. 5 rounds is a death sentence for both fighters.. It will be laughable if both these guys are still standing at round 5. Roy might have a cardiac arrest...

I'm thinking if anything Roy might be able to take Big Nog down early on and just lay his fat belly and press his weight on him.. Maybe even pull a Frank Mir elbow break on Nog.. Roy's not bad on the ground and he won't be sub'd by Big Nog.. No way.. Roy has a solid history of Jits..

You aren't lying as this next UFC card is light years away from the last.. Zuffa must have planned for a lengthy vacation during this off time stink..

On a positive note - Gives Bellator, WSOF, and even Legacy more of the spot light.. Probably a good thing for MMA fans in retrospect...
