So robb got me thinking. We should start a MMA contest amongst the board for some points.

If anyone wants to do it, put some ideas down.

Between now and Feb 6 their will be 8 ufc events, twice that we you count other promotions. I think we should include all promotions and do multi-event contest because it will create diversity in the standings with all the underdogs.

Well, i think it should be a buy in pool and winner get's the purse. don't want to wait till feb. though, so maybe it could be for the rest of the year...we could also do another next year when the big fights start in January....or maybe have it end with the big fight. either way I wanna win some points!

I think maybe a per-event contest. Anyone who wants to enter throws in 50 pts or whatever....cap every fight on card (that is available), winner take all, or maybe a 2nd place payout as well. i'd be down for something like that.

Next event is ufc on oct 24. Let's draw something up and get it going. we will need to designate someone to hold the points, as it would be best to have people post up the amount to begin with to save problems in the future.

Any of the regular mma people is fine with me. or even robyn, as i know she will be playing in this.

I like the one event at a time. We could run it just like the Freeplay Contests that Bread sets up. I'd say set up a thread the Thursday before the event in order to get the most fight lines available including the prelims. Then everyone gives 25 points to whoever is running it. Then everyone puts their picks in the thread. 60% - 1st 30% - 2nd and 10% - 3rd.

I have no idea how much work goes into running it, but perhaps five pts a person could go to the person coordinating it?

I wonder if we could set this up through SBR picks?

OK so we'll do for all MMA card. Post all sprads and pick from them. Highest units up is a winner. Up to everyone whether winner take all, or a 2nd and/or 3rd payout. I personally like winner take all, but that's open. If no one cares, I'll hold the points. Should definitely be a pre-post up to be in contest.

Lastly, need to agree on fee to get in. 25 or 50 pts sounds about right.

Next event is in 2 weeks...ufc...yay!

I think we should have a 50 or 100 unit pool to work worth, have too bet all your units, max bet to win 25 units etc... I just want to avoid ties and have a clear winner, 2 and 3rd.

What about if we do a single event thing like Hoff suggested, and then do a grand salami contest with something like 6 events. And to make it a little different, you can have 2 confidence picks for 2 units each event rather than the standard 1 unit. I dunno just trying to make Brooks happy before he goes on a rampage

So how about we do the single event contest for any card that has odds with 1st-3rd place starting with UFC 104. Open to everyone, say 25 points to enter.

Then a November Multi-Card winner take all contest for just us 7-8 regulars, say 50 points. We could still do the 25 point open to everyone contest for all the cards included in the Multi-Card contest. The November contest would include STRIKEFORCE: Fedor vs Rogers, UFC 105, WEC 44, and UFC 106. I personally wouldn't want the STRIKEFORCE: Challengers, DREAM, or Sengoku in the Multi-Card Contest. However we could still use those events for single contests.

If Bread wants to run the single events I can put together a thread in November for the super mega contest and keep track.

what about a 3 contest event. Any 3 consecutive mma events from ufc,wec,sengo,dream,strike will be used for the contest.

First contest would be 10/24 - 11/6 (ufc 104, dream 12, strike)
Second contest- 11/7- 11/14 (sengoku, strike, ufc 105)
Third 11/18-12/5(wec 44, ufc 106, tuf 10)
fourth would start with ufc 107 12/12

or we could do every 4 events?
