I don't get it does he think he's the next Denzel Washington. He's got one movie roll, he's not gonna get any prime rolls. This better pass quick while he's still in his prime fighting years.

Yawn. Give it a week or two and this will all be forgotten. Rampage is one of my favourite fighters but this is getting a little silly. This movie gig isn't going to be a "career" and he won't be able to put food on the table just because of the A-team lol. Dana will convince him to come back - they aren't gunna waste this whole TUF build-up and Rampage needs/loves money. He will fight again .

Oh and here's the full text. Seems there was some other issues between him and Dana that also led to this whole blowup.

Rampage will be back within 18 months... I know for a fact hes in debt. if this acting thing doesnt work he'll be back with strikeforce or dana will bring him back and make a big ''Rampage is back'' ufc 129 or so and it will sell a ton of ppvs... but he'll be back hes not a big draw in japan the pride excs told him this.

How do you know this? Are you friends with him? Haha but seriously, how do you know he's in debt? And he can't fight somewhere else just because he retire. It'll go down just like when Randy "retired" then tried to fight Fedor. If he fights again, it'll be in the UFC.

I can't fault Rampage's actions though and I hope he stays retired. Dana tries to play everyone and very few take a stand. For the two major fighters (in my mind) that did, Tito didn't have the talent and Randy did have the star status for Dana to care. Rampage has both so hopefully this will change something. But when it's all said and done, I think we can all agree that this will end with Rampage back in the Octagon because money talks.

something like that i trained/taught sub grappling in the circle of fighter that he trains with but are we friends no, but i do like the guy but lets just say he has juanito ibara in one ear and people with bad money management around him. M-1/strikeforce have alot of $$$ and Rampage will fight in you backyard if you have the $$$ he wants. He would be the perfect poster boy alot better than Fedor M-1 wouldnt like it but i think scott coker would open the bank, Im not sure on the Zuffa contract he signed though after Randy retired and came back they all might have some kind of clause for future zuffa protection, you would be surprised by the shit zuffa throws in their contracts, especially the champions/big draws. It wouldnt surprise me.

I'm sure that fighters have clauses in the contract that won't allow them to just freely come and go as they please. Especially the big name fighters. I remember reading a recent article on Sherdog that said the UFC has a 60 day exclusive negotiating period and then after that, they can match any offer until the contract expires.

I agree though, if Strikeforce would open the bank to Rampage they'd be much better off with him as the poster boy than Fedor. I just don't see that happening because they're is too much BS to get through to make that happen.

Ya Rampage can't fight anywhere else until he fulfills his UFC contract. Plus he said in the blog he has no ill will towards the UFC and wants to be on good terms.

Gov, I disagree with your comparisons though. For the Tito situation, Dana didn't play him at all. Tito's contract was up, he was free to sign anywhere. And when he was a free agent he learned a valuable lesson that a lot of fighters learn - you can complain about the UFC all you want but they pay the best and they are the most stable. Thats why Tito came back - no one was gunna pay him UFC money. As for Randy not being a star, he was their second biggest draw behind Chuck Liddell at the time he decided to pull the Fedor card. But a contract is a contract and he had to fulfill it. I don't see what Dana did wrong in that situation either. Randy started doing movies, got a new agent, then decided he wasn't being paid enough all of a sudden. Sounds like the agent had a lot to do with it .

The way I see it is unless you suck, you always offered an extension. Tito at the time was top two PPV draws (with Chuck) but he didn't feel like he was getting that and took a stand by threatening to bounce. Start the Dana/UFC spin and it's all his fault and he's trying to screw the UFC. Worse was that when he was technically out of his UFC contract, he had to wait like a year before he was even able to negotiate with other companies. Randy on the other hand was a draw but he was no main stream star that Tito was in early 2000s, Chuck is now, or that Rampage is getting to be.

I agree a contract is a contract but it's like the NFL, it ain't shit if one party can void the contract if they want to but the other one can't.

I agree with some of what you say but Tito wasn't worth what he was asking and the market told him that after he decided to leave. In all honesty, he barely fought twice a year and refused many fights. His last "big" win was a controversial split decision win against Forrest Griffin in early 2006. He wasn't going to get paid Chuck money when he wasn't winning or fighting.

And I guess we will have to agree to disagree on Randy's star power . If you look at the PPV numbers, Randy has been one of the top draws for a while, especially right before he tried to leave. Couture/Gonzaga and Couture/Sylvia both outdrew Tito/Evans and Tito/Griffin, with Tito getting help from 2 TUF winners. Tito wasn't what he used to be when his contract dispute started. Hopefully his back surgery gives him a second wind.

I think we well have to agree to disagree. I just remember that Tito was the UFC's poster boy when they first bought the company and he (with Ken Shamrock) were big reasons that helped the company stay afloat. Tito definitely wasn't worth what he was asking for as a fighter but as a draw he was. He could hold up cards himself and is one of the few fighters that understand self promotion; something that boxers are so good at. The Tito/Griffin fight happened when MMA was still getting it's legs underneath it (2005) and Tito's most two recent events as Main Events, UFC 66 and 61 are two of the top PPV buys in the UFC.

I think Randy's star qualities are loss on his personality (he's not brash or outspoken) and that everyone likes him. There are few people that can be a star with everyone liking you (DLH comes to mine). Most I feel have the public split. They either want to see you beat some ass or get your ass beaten. As he's gotten older and MMA has grown I think he's become more of a star. But outside of the sport, he's just another fighter.
