Contest rules too restrictive
I have "beat the prick" many times and would have gladly opened an account if I had understood the rules when first starting. I would like to submit for future consideration that a person be eligible for prizes and make a deposit after any early season winning. Obviously, your goal is to get people gambling but it doesn't seem fair if we missed the boat early on to be penalized prize eligibility and signup benefits within that "three-day window" of the first winning. I posted this once before, but did not see any replies. I'm not criticizing-the rules are posted clearly, but were not noticed in time. I just think a person should be eligible for their winnings and bonuses more frequently. What difference does it make if you joined on week #1 or week #8 to the sports book?? Not to mention coming up with the money on short-term notice (three days after the first win). I hope to see a reply this time & even better possible changes for next year. Thanks for reading.

Thanks for your input. So many different factors go into establishing rules for contests such as BTP: promoting SBR Forum; promoting the sponsor; encouraging discourse amongst posters; preventing contest abuse; etc. The point is that the rules were not arbitrary ... there are reasons behind them. However, I and the rest of SBR will always admit that we have plenty of room for improvement. With that said, we will take into account your ideas as well as the numerous other suggestions received when establishing the rules and guidelines for future contests. Thanks Philly713!

So, Philly are you saying if you win and don't pay the $100 deposit, you forfeit any bonus winnings through the season? Or are you saying you didn't sign up with Cris at the beginning?
I thought the rules stated if that was the case you were not eligible for the season grand prizes. Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding you. I feel the rules are very fair and I didn't get in until a month ago (wish I would have joined sooner), I finally beat the prick this week. Seems simple to me though; Sign up early in the season/ read the rules/ create a Cris account/ beat the prick/ pay your deposit/ claim your winnings/ beat the prick again/ claim your winnings again/ repeat.

rules are way fair, great contest (that sbr and cris didnt have to do at all), and if you have to struggle to come up with a $100, you may need to re-evaluate why you gamble in the first place.

How could you think this isn't fair? They don't even make you put the $100 in until AFTER YOU'VE ALREADY WON. If you're so worried, just put the $100 in and let it sit there for the duration of the tourny.

I personally was not insinuating the contest was completely unfair and apologize if it seemed that way. I am making a suggestion and hoping to clear the air for others understanding. The $100 wasn't the primary issue here for me anyways, my problem was realizing and understanding the rules fully until after winning a week. After I won "beat the prick" early on, I decided to thoroughly read the rules (I had already signed up for the account but did not make a deposit immediately due to minimal funding). By the time I received my e-mail confirming my $200 good news (or so I thought was), it was too late in the week to make the $100 deposit! I believe that was a Friday or Saturday morning after the winnings. I wrote to the "rules committee" and found out that any future winnings this year anyways will be forfeited because I did not make the initial hundred dollar deposit after the first winning-therefore I simply suggested (and still do) that exceptions might be made under these circumstances or if someone is unable to come up with the $100 within that three day window (so to speak. I hope that clears up any misunderstandings-I may have caused & also hope it is still given more consideration for the future! The rules are 99 percent fair ...just make sure you understand them before starting! And to go one step further: if you really want my interest in the contest and having promotions lead to regular gamblers ... keep it opened for a follow-up deposit option or something ... not criticism, food for thought right?

Ouch. So since you won once but did not deposit, you can't ever win again, even if you deposit the Thursday before next week? I guess if you didn't win, you're still okay?

7) Prizes: Before being eligible to claim any prize(s) listed, contestants must make a one-time minimum deposit of $100 USD into their BetCRIS account, regardless of any previous or current balance, no later than 10:00 p.m. (ET) on the Thursday after the FIRST time they are declared a weekly winner. Failure to do so will result in disqualification of contestant's eligibility for any season-ending grand prizes.
By not depositing the $100 in time should not have disqualified you for the weekly prizes, it should only cause you to forfeit any grand prizes such as the superbowl trip or a polo shirt. If you are saying you can't deposit now and claim your bonus if you beat the prick, the rules do not state that. I may be confused here since I have not experienced this, I deposited when I won. You should still be elidgible for your bonus if you BTP, if not, maybe that rule needs to be looked at closer.

The rules do not state, nor do I believe that anyone was ever informed that they would not be eligible for future WEEKLY prizes if they failed to make a deposit after their first win. That applies to the SEASON-ENDING prizes as stated in the rules.

We will try to improve the contest next year with a keen eye on simplicty of rules. The BTP contest should be fun and easy to follow including the rules.
