Default Baseball Underdog of the Day Contest - Saturday, 6/07/08

Starting Sunday (June 1), we will start a new June Baseball Underdog of the Day Contest with a prize of $200 account at DSI, 3 time roll-over. Last place will receive a $25 DSI account with a 3 time roll over. If there is a tie for last place in both units and wins (20 plays minimum), there will be be multiple last place boobie prizes.

*IMPORTANT*
All players must have an account at DSI prior to making picks SIGN UP Here.

Before participating, players must PM their Diamond Sports International account ID to SBRforum Staff

1. Check in the BASEBALL HANDICAPPING FORUM each day for the daily thread to be posted by LT Profits. Lines will be posted by 1:00 p.m. (ET) each day. Plays may be posted before that, but the official posted lines will be used for grading.

2. Only the UNDERDOGS in games posted by LT will be eligible for selection, which will be only games that have underdog prices of greater than +110.

3. All plays will be RISKING one unit, and selections may NOT be changed once posted.

4. Here’s the catch: Your play must include a write-up! The write-up does not have to be long, just a sentence or two (or more) about why you are making your play.

5. Entries that are past-post or do not have analysis will be NO ACTION. Any edited post will count as a LOSS! If you make a mistake, need to add analysis or wish to enter a corrected line, do so in a separate post. This holds true even if the first game on the schedule did not go off yet. It also holds true for past-posts and entries with no analysis. It does NOT hold true for posts that are not contest selections, i.e. standings, commentary posts, LT's notes to posters or congratulatory posts.
*-EXCEPTION: If someone edits a post on the last day of the competition in an attempt to get an automatic loss in order to win the Last Place prize, then the original post will stand.

6. And here’s the fine print:

• Must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
• One entry per home and computer.
• Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits
• Maximum one underdog pick per day, minimum 20 underdog plays required to be eligible for monthly prize.
• Tiebreaker for first place is total WINS. If still tied, combatants will carry on a head-to-head underdog match until winner is determined. This would begin on the first day of next month with no passes allowed. If co-leader passes during tie-breaking period, he or she is eliminated, even if other co-lealers lose.
• All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.
• SBR employees eligible to participate but are not eligible to win the monthly prize.

The deadline for entering plays in the contest and still being eligible for prizes is Wednesday, June 11.

BOT.

Do you mean M's for today, or are you still celebrating last night?

If it's today, add a post with a brief write-up. Don't edit.

Kansas City Royals +167

Yankees lost at home to the Royals last night, so they should win this aft' as a double reverse play the Royals are exactly what they want me to play so there's no alternative but to play the reverse of the reverse with the Yankees, which really means the the Royals, because the Yankees would be the play that would reverse the reverse if I was going to avoid the reverse trap that they want me to make a double reverse play on.

Baltimore +140

After blowing a 4-0 lead last night by giving the Orioles a 6 run 8th, I expect the Jays to be quite down today and Baltimore full of momentum and confidence.

#904 Pitt +117: I'm backing the home doggy again. Gorzelanny's ERA is a little deceiving at 7.22, he has started 11 games and never allowed over 7 ER's in a game ,he has allowed exactly 7, 3 times this season ,all against the Cubbies, but he has held other teams that hit lefties good in check. Also throw in that Haren is 0-3 on the road this season.

Twins +151
Livan only gave up 1 run in his last start versus the Sox. Buehrle lost badly in that game giving up 7 earned runs in 5 innings.

As stated by other people already Hernandez didn't pitch that bad against White Sox last time. I think the bats for Twins will come alive with Buehrle on the mound for White Sox.

This Nationals team is just a mess w/ all the injuries they are suffering from. I see value with the Giants as dogs in this matchup.

ROYALS +170: For whatever reason, Bannister has been a stud in the daytime this season, going 5-1 with a 2.16 ERA and a phenomenal 0.91 WHIP in 41.2 innings under the sun, as opposed to 0-5 at night. He has already beaten the Yankees once this season, allowing only two runs and five hits. Pettitte has seen better days and he is coming off an outing where he allowed five runs and 10 hits in seven innings vs. the normally light-hitting Twins.

Sea +160. I'm a Sox fan, and I can tell when they're due for a few Ls due to injuries and other reasons. Cocoa can dodge a hook like Ali, but the Sox take the L here as Sea crack <---------s a few knuckleballs for Homers and the Ms hold for the win.

Wrong team favored here IMO. The Giants are hitting .300 in their last 3 games. Sanchez is pitching well of late, in his last 3 starts he has logged 19 1/3 innings with an era of 2.78.

Taking Batista (SEA) against Wakefield (BOS) with the Mariners coming off a easy win yesterday. Boston having lockeroom problems and I look for them to lay down again today.
