    Albert Pujols>10 years $300 Million?

I heard this is what he is looking for. That is a bit much for a 1st basemen, don't you think? Why tie up that much money on a position that you can get similar numbers from someone else? I know he is a big threat, but I don't think I could tie up that much on a 1B.

Do you guys think he is worth $30 million a year?

I actually doubt this. He's one of the few guys that I feel actually puts in the work and does it naturally. Yeah he has packed on some muscle since he was a rookie, but it's a healthy amount. Not like Bonds who gained like 90 pounds.

As far as his salary goes, I think he's worth somewhere in the 28-32 million a year range (He is arguably the best baseball player of all time, and definitely the best 3 hitter of all-time. So he should be paid the most all-time). HOWEVER, I don't think anyone would be willing to pay that in today's market.

I feel like Cardinals will re-sign him for something like 7 yr, $175 million

Howard got 5 years @ $125 million, so Pujols should get more than that. When compared with Howard's contract $30 million a year is not unreasonable. The Phillies probably overpaid Howard but that is mute at this point.

10 years for $30 mil a year is pretty lucrative. I agree that it could be that price, but for less years.

im sure he has been tested already.... and im sure he's clean

6 years, 180 mill to the Cardinals if they choose to re-sign him. Let's not forget he's the most dominant hitter year in, year out.

Could happen. I could see seasons 8,9,10, being heavily incentive based to push it to 30mill ayear for those seasons. Pujols loves the city, and has TONS of charity things there, so I really do not see him leaving.

He isn't worth that much. How many good years could he have left in that steroid filled body?

Again, I'd have to say looking at his weight gain and where he has gained the weight (midsection), he's probably clean. Plus, this guy has been one of the most durable players in the league.

    I think he's worth the $30 m a year, but he wants a 10 year contract? I don't think he'll get it.

I agree $150 for 5, if his numbers drop off, you start shopping him around.

Marlins turn their attention to Albert Pujols

    By Clark Spencer / McClatchy Newspapers | Tuesday, December 6, 2011 | http://www.bostonherald.com | MLB Coverage

DALLAS — The Florida Marlins used to be largely invisible at baseball’s annual winter meetings, a relative pauper that left the big free agent signings to the fat cats — the Yankees, the Red Sox [team stats], the Cubs and the like.
"Usually we sit in a room, watching the ticker on the bottom of the TV, watching the big names going here and signing there," said Jeff Conine, a Marlins front office assistant. "Now we look at the ticker and it’s our name we’re seeing."
One day after the Marlins agreed to terms on a franchise-record $106 million contract with shortstop Jose Reyes, and shortly before introducing Heath Bell ($27 million) as the team’s new closer, owner Jeffrey Loria and other team officials flew into Dallas, quickly changed into suits and hurried through the lobby of the Hilton Anatole with purpose in their steps.
As writers gave pursuit, they brushed aside questions, hopped on an elevator and rode up to the 19th floor where, for 45 minutes they made their pitch for the biggest prize in this year’s free agent class: Albert Pujols.

Pujols is more of a business decision rather than a pure baseball decision.

You can do WAY more marketing with Albert than you can with Prince. Think about

    A) how much more they'll get for the naming rights to the new ballpark

    B) International merchandising and advertising

    C) People that will come to games when he gets closer to breaking big records

Every insider says it's down to St. Louis and Miami

Miami has put a 10 year deal on the table. As long as there is no No Trade Clause I'm cool with it.

Fun time to be a Miami Marlins fan

Dude might help fill some seats (the cubs don't need that kind of help), but if I were a team owner and had $300m to toss around I'd be looking at pitching free agents and players with speed. I'd like to see more teams get back to small ball.

I am a lot of things and most are beneath the worst there is I can assure u. You my friend are a moron if you think people will fill the seats in Miami to watch baseball. Make sure you look me up in September when their home attendance is below the league average.

Will do. I'll look you up after they clinch the Wild Card.
