Default Buy or Sell Florida winning the east

They are only 1.5 games out of first despite their low payroll. Can they hang in there and win the east, or will they fold?

I got them +2200 to win the NL so I hope so. If Manny goes there they most likely will.

    BUYING...

The Marlins organization is one of the smartest organizations in all of sports but nobody seems to notice. They pay their players shit but somehow always compete, genius people up in management.

Yes we notice they are a good team and they have a low payroll. But that doesn't mean shit because the mets/phillies are better teams and will win so use your ****ing head and dont buy.

Won't Manny be making more money himself than the whole team combined?

one hitter is not going to help the marlins win the east. their main problem is their pitching, not their hitting.

  11. #11

Yeah because the Phillies and Mets have SO much better pitching, right?

Sell, Marlins did well the first half of the year because of much-better-than-expected pitching, they really need/needed to pick up a good starter

if you get to coach any pitching staff of the 3 teams who would you choose, 90% would say the mets

Right cause there's no way a team 1.5 games out in August can win their division.

    Not to mention maybe Manny.

    LOL

Whether they can do it or not, I'm certainly rooting for them. Exciting team to watch.

    Damn I hate Loria!

No, I don't think they can keep it up. They'll fade off like they did in '06, with or without Manny.

Hate to say it but I think the Phils take the division. Rooting for the Mets though.

if they get Manny, ppl will almost expect them to win the division.

who knows how these young guys will deal with that kind of pressure?

just imagine it... tens of tens of tens of florida marlins fans will now have a whole new set of expectations for the stretch run.

    They would be getting Manny

    but not for nothing

they would be giving up 2 nice players

i dont think anyone will 'expect' them to win....

even with manny?? i dont see the stadium to be somewhat crowded anytime

florida is better than the mets, and quite frankly, plays harder and smarter than the phils. the phils defense has let them down lately. their starters arent as good as i had hoped unless myers gets moving
i see no reason florida cant win the east

Iv'e been waiting for the Marlins to fade since June and here they are in the thick of things. These guys are hard tough players who can hit. It would not surprise me at this time if they do.

I'm writing my answer before reading everyone else's replies...

    Short answer: Sell

I was raised on the baseball saw: Pitching, Defense, and timely Hittting.

They don't pitch it. Starters ERA is like 27th in MLB.

They don't catch it. Tons of errors.

They do hit the hell out of the baseball.

I just don't think you can win a division playing Gorilla Baseball.

    Just my two cents...

but the rest of the divsion plays the same way
    mets have no pen
i still think phils win the east either way

  34. #34

I think the Mets win the East. Their pen is actually pretty good, with the exception of Heilman. The Mets also have a good offense. The Phillies don't have the starting pitching to win the East. Neither do the Marlins.

This is not a value bet. No chance marlins come out on top of the mets and the phils.
