    Default Baseball Prospectus

Does anyone have a subscription to BP? I'm thinking about getting it, but haven't decided if its worth it since Im not able to actually read the articles.

    What about ESPN insider?

BP is probably the best resource for a sabermetric minded handicapper because the stats they create are far more useful in judging a player's worth than traditional stats like ERA, batting average, etc....

If you're going to cap seriously I highly recommend getting a subscription.

use to have bp...use to also have insider...

insider is a waste of time imo...its more for the casual fan, but for the guys who already follow baseball heavily, they dont tell u anything that u dont already know except for gossip type of crap...

bp also concentrates soley on baseball...

ESPN the Magazine can't hold a candle to BProspectus for statistical data

Ian nailed it. Not that expensive and you can definitely get your money's worth.

    Not that I'm aware of.

The articles on the BP website and elsewhere on the net, however, can be used to create a successful methodology. That's how I figured out how to beat bases anyway.

FWIW, I eventually stopped capping baseball because it's more work, less fun, and less profitable than poker. That said, if you aggressively shop lines, understand randomness, and really comb through available sabermetric material you can beat baseball for a non-trivial amount long-term.

What is your winning percentage in poker (not to get too off-topic)?

Agree with Slim on the ESPN Insider being a waste.

Have had a Baseball Prospectus subscription for several years now. I'm not a SABR geek, and get annoyed at how some of their stuff tries to break everything down into an end-all single column to justify some position. Anyone who thinks that ANY single column of baseball stats is an absolute is simple-minded, in my opinion. But overall the BP is a solid tool to have, whether your a big SABR geek or not.

At the time (2006) I was making over $150 an hour mostly multitabling 10/20 LHE 6max. on party with rakeback with some play up to 30/60 LHE full ring on other sites. Those days have sadly passed, good games at those limits don't exist anymore, but I still feel that off a bankroll of "X" one can make more with poker than baseball handicapping. I also enjoy poker more than capping bases, but that's strictly a personal preference.

I hear you in reference to the golden years of partypoker. Those were good times but sadly they are a thing of the past.

I canceled mine too. The so-called "experts" are morons. I wish I could bet against these projections.
