Default Who here thinks the Giants have a chance to win the whole F'in thing?

    Tim Lincecum
    Matt Cain
    Barry Zito
    Jonathan Sanchez
    Madison Bumgarner

    Best bullpen in baseball

Huge home field avantage at SBC Park

    Freddy Sanchez
    Pandaval
    Mark DeRosa
    Aubrey Huff
    Aaron Rowand
    Bengie Molina
    Edgar Renteria/Juan Uribe
    Nate Schierholtz

Lot of versatility on this team as well, guys can play a ton of positions, Bochy has options.

Something is happening in the city by the bay...

I agree that "something is happening" there...and I like what they've done a lot...I'm just not sold they have the offense yet. Maybe in a year or two they will be legit title contenders

  3. #3

    Default

They definitely leave a lot to be desired power wise, not crazy about the team speed or overall defense (gonna need a lot of strikeouts). They should contend in the west, but they don't measure up to the best in the National League and certainly not with the American league's top teams.

    Projected Lineup

    Rowand
    Sanchez
    Panda
    Huff
    DeRosa
    Molina
    Schierholtz
    Renteria/Uribe

Not the 27 Yankees but that looks a lot better to me than last years squad.. I think most people are underestimating the Sf offense

  6. #6

SF offense has not been at a proper level in past years. Huff and DeRosa can make a huge impact. We will see.
The only things that scares me is Matt Cain. (He is a good pitcher, "pero esta salado" but he is unlucky) and Barry Zito (He is always a question mark)

Huff as your 4 hitter? Rowand who never gets on base leading off?

    Good luck.

Yes OBP is another weakness in this lineup, that will HAVE to improve if the Giants are to do anything, and yes Rowand leading off is a complete joke. I'm sure Bochy will be sick of watching him making 1 pitch outs by early May and will go in a different direction.

Rowand hit .294 in the leadoff spot last year, Huff is no #4 hitter but he did mash a couple years ago

Maybe he could somehow regain that form

Yea but he hit .261 with a .318 OBP overall on the year. It's easy to look at all the positives. Huff hit 30 homeruns+ twice in his career. Once when he was in Tampa and once in 08. You guys are lucky to get 20 homers out of him.

Sanchez can't pitch on the road. Who knows if Zito will pitch well again. Renteria is a corpse. Who knows what Schierholtz will give you? Sanchez can't stay on the field, DeRosa is not a #5 hitter either.

The bottom line is anyway you slice it the only way the Giants get to the WS is if Sandoval hits .400 and hits 50 homeruns. Until then, have fun being in the wildcard race until you go through a crucial stretch where you can't muster 3 runs for the win.

I look for Jonathan to pitch better on the road this year and Zito and Bumgarner to also pitch well. Bumgarner can be filthy.

Schierholtz is a good player. If Renteria doesn't hit again Uribe will take his place

  15. #15

I agree with the above sentiment. Huff will add a lot to this team. Sandoval will be even betterthis year, their offense will be even better, and they should be pretty competitive overall

The Giants have Zero, Nada, None, and NO chace of winning it all. They will be lucky to be competitive in the West, and the West is the weakest division.

Interested in what their over under for wins will be, pretty sure they will be heavy favorite to win the division.

Just checked 5Dimes and they have Dodgers and Rockies both ahead of the Giants. You may be able to get good value on both over/under and to win the division.

I think they win the west but can they get through Card's and Phil's I don't think so. They got a chance though.

The San Francisco Offense will be much improved over last season, mark my words. Not only that but the pitching is absolute filth.

Filth I tell you. Lincecum and Cain are getting even better. Zito is showing signs of returning to his old self. Sanchez and Bumgarner have as good stuff as almost any lefties in the league. Wilson is a very good closer. Runzler and Affeldt are trememdous lefties coming out of that bullpen.

This time is going to open the eyes of many people. Not me though, I know whats coming.

great rotation, but i'd need to see a little more offense to be convinced

  25. #25

Your asking for a near perfection and no injuries to the Giants 5 man pitching rotation and the stingy run support to hold up. Don't like their chances, DBacks have a better shot.

They could win the West. And anyone who knows baseball knows that if you can just somehow get in the playoffs you have a shot of winning it all.
