Speer, not to sound mean or anything, but I've never really thought of any downside to BABIP. There is obviously only so much stock you can put into it, but it can definitely be a useful tool to judge luck of a player. In some cases (e.g. Eric Byrnes), BABIP is skill induced because of so many weak hit balls (pop flys/bunts/etc), but the majority of the time, it can be useful for players whom you have a large enough sample size for.

A few posts ago, we were talking about BABIP. Statistical information is used by many from a number of sources. I utilize StatFox.com for mine. I am aware of other sources. Please share what sources you use.
Additionally, share the books you will load for bases.

No problem. The Standard, Advanced, and Batted Ball stats are the easiest to understand since there is no formula to come up with the data. Reading through their blogging is definitely a good way to learn about sabermetrics
