Default CK's Daily MLB Thread Leans for 4/7/09

I just have to take a stab at the Brewers as Lincecum was 0-4 as a favorite of -145 or more last year and then he is lined up at -170 for this game against a playoff team from last year? Suppan was 2-0 as a road starter last year in April. And he also won his last performance against the Giants as well. Lincecum was lights out last year in April too going 4-1. At least I am getting a playoff team from last year at a +150 price. Crumbs play of the day:

    Brewers+150 Yum-Yum Crumbs

    Added play carjacked from BigMoneyMan

    Royals+110 Crumbs, Yum-Yum

Love The BREW cREW, YEA he won th Cy young last year but they cant hit and the Brew Crew has some good hitters and to get a playoff team plus 150 is definitely worth a shot

    early leans:

wandy rodriguez handles business at home (and has improved every year) and i'm still not sold on dempster to be anywhere near as dominant as last year.

    HOU ML

don't know why it's offered at plus money but jimenez and haren should do what cook and webb failed to do, that being slowing the other team's offense down.

    ARI/COL Under 8.5

not sure yet, but i like lohse over snell tomorrow. I expect the cards to make sure they get the job done here after getting upset with a late comeback at home against an inferior pirate squad.

    CARDS -1.5

also looking at jurrjens to outpitch moyer for 5 innings.

    ATL 1st 5

I'm tailing also this one! I'm liking this baseball stuff

I'm also tailing Machinechoice. I think him and CK will have a very nice positive record in the end of the season. And CK will have two positive records, because of the system plays!

ok guys today we have nba and mlb action... the year started with wins on Pit and Flo -1 and pushes on ARZ -1 (oh my boys are hitting it hard this year) and Cin +1 (nice try), but still made money so not so bad...

here is what I like today:
Bos -1 +101 (no need for a writeup here...they will just take it...)

ATL 5 Innings +103 (Jurrjens had an 3.33 ERA against Phi last year... Moyer only 6.55 ERA, but more outstanding the big three for Phi Rollins, Utley and Howard only went 7-33 against Jair... I think the bullpen probably blows an early Braves lead later in the game, so I only go with the 5 Inning shere today)

Flo -1 -107 (Olson coming back home here today... it just wont be a great return...he had an 3.11 ERA last year here but that doesnt matter much since he wont get any run support from Was at least as long josh is in there...i think Florida will take this one, I also thinking about taking the under 4.5 for the first 5 innings here, but not sure yet)

Hou +102 (Dempster strugled a bit against Hou in his carrer as he only has a 5.18 ERA in his starts...now Rodriguez he will make it a tough for the Cubs today as he is 3-1 with an 2.27 ERA at home vs the Cubs...I take the dog in this one... even if the Hou Off didnt impress me yesterday)

Min -108 (actually only taking it today here bc bedard has so bad numbers against Min as he is 0-5 with an 4.84 ERA...)

lol why would you bench suppan? the giants aren't great on hitting with the exception of their outfielders and maybe pablo sandoval

so sammy with your logic, any "top 5 pitcher in the MLB" will win, right?

i am on the royals today as well. buehrle induces many ground balls but the white sox infield is now one of the worst in the majors. meche has a different style but by era, whip etc they are pretty close. bottom line is royals are a better team and are a dog.

other play for me is rays/red sox under 8.5.

Hey Ck I have the same question. When do you decide to play just the first 5 innings? Is it based on pitchers that you like dislike, bullpens of teams? Thanks any advice will be appreciated.

Ive been reading for a month or so and your'e explanations are very insightful.

I'm not feelin that Royals play. Every single stat says the White Sox are the play here, and Buerhle is a monster in April, and against the Royals. I have no idea why you're going with KC.

EDIT: Okay, nevermind that. Apparently there is strong wind that is blowing out of the stadium. I am gonna play the over here I guess.

    BOSTON -140

-Beckett is 14-4 with a 3.04 ERA the last 4 years in the month's of March/ April.
-Beckett is also 6-3 with a 3.91 ERA in 10 career starts vs the Rays.
-Becket is 5-1 mark with a 4.30 ERA in 7 home starts vs the Rays.
-Shields has not pitched well vs Boston in his career going 2-6 with a 4.80 ERA vs them.
-Shields is 0-3 vs Boston with a 10.12 ERA in 3 career starts at Fenway.
-Revenge factor, Rays knocked Boston out of the ALCS

rolling with dexter on this one....

I was out of character taking a favorite yesterday, when the bulk of my plays involve Crumbs.

Anyway smitch, I got it from Winning Edge.Com pitcher logs for 2007

I will indicate when i am making a play for the first five innings. It's usually with a home dog that has 70% or more on the opposing side and the line goes in reverse against the public

CC and Lee are also top pitchers but they were spanked yesterday. Brewers can get this one.

cheese the only wind that is blowing is the one in your head as you cap this royals/white sox game! i always check weather channel website, i have a spreadsheet with the zip code of every stadium. anyway i have the white sox finishing in the basement or second to last with KC finishing ahead of them in the standings for 2009. the royals can barely flash any leather but the white sox are near the bottom in the league defensively, especially their infielders. a lot of people have wondered if the KC offense from spring training will translate to regular season success, that will be an interesting item to watch this year. best of luck today!

    CK,

Don't you think for the first week or two 5 inning plays might be better...until they stretch these pitchers out??
