media will always report the worst side of a story because everything must be sensationalized to receive ratings. this causes the general public to perceive issues as "problems" when in fact there are many compensating and balancing factors in place. fortunately for gambling, the common person is often capable of understanding the issue and realizing when the issue is being blown out of proportion.
